BOTTOM are back with their new Long-Player and I can tell you, IT RULES!!!! Produced by Billy Anderson (Weedeater
etc.), the three Ladies of Heavy-Rock did an album, which grooves, rocks and makes you feel good in one. You think Rock is
a man´s world, fuck no, cause if I hear that, i must say that Sina, Nila and Clementine would play a lot of other bands on
the wall.I must say, compared to their first release "Made in Voyage" on their own label Mudflap Records, this album is defnetly
a step forward and you can tell on the music, that the girls were constantly on Tour during 2000 and 2001, so I don´t wonder
that the album is that fat and well played. New Yorks´ Lower East Side is on the rise, with these three girls from the Big
Apple Frank Kozik defnetly made a cool deal, besides groups like ATP and High On Fire this will be a highlight on Man´s Ruin.
Watch out, maybe this power-trio plays in a venue near you.

Man`s Ruin
Release Date: Avaiable now
The latest from NY`s finest all female rock band, and by far their best. It`s got the same classic hooks that I really
dig about Bottom- that driving beat- big fat grooves....but there is a bit more to this CD than their last one. More sludge-
more hardcore edge at times. Big fat Billy Anderson production. There are a lot more experimental effects and experimental
guitar stuff...
Bottom comes straight from the soul with this one. The songs are all classic rock/heavy metal numbers that
are driving, high energy and have staying power, that is the power to leave catchy bits and pieces leftover in your mind.
Most
of the cuts are pretty much in the tried and true Bottom fashion with the exception of some pretty out there super heavy sludged
out moments that come out of nowhere...A pleasant surprise indeed. Vocals performed by Sina are up front and barely over the
top, but not excessively loud- you know? She has emotion and belts out vocals with as much effort as Bon Scott hopped up on
whiskey. Nila and Clementine are right there, and it`s more than obvious that these gals spent quite a bit of time touring
their asses off.
Along side the basic formulas, the 2 tracks that I really dig that threw me a surprise were `Angermeister`
and `Got Meth`. Those tracks exceeded above and beyond my expectations from them... If you like stuff along the lines of the
driving rock likes of Acid King or Lost Goat, then this might be the CD you are looking for. Lyrically it describes how all
of us might feel at times, or maybe just some hard working girls on the road. You decide.

Man’s Ruin
Man, this CD was plenty heavier
than I expected... not that Bottom’s first album ”Made In Voyage” wasn’t heavy... but for this album it sounds like they’ve
turned each and every knob to 11... and I guess it doesn’t hurt that it was produced by Bottom... and a certain Billy Anderson...
You
can call the music Bottom plays for stonerrock or whatever... but fact is that it´s much more than that... it has that certain
NYC vibe... Helmet is a band that comes to mind on several occasions... but I guess that the Helmet influences isn’t as obvious
as on the ”Made In Voyage” album... But, then again, if Helmet consisted of 3 stoner chicks hell-bent on conquering the world...
one town at a time... you’d probably end up with a band that had a sound similar to Bottom’s...
I’ve had an advance
CD-R of this album for a while now, guess it´s time to get my hands on the real deal now, since the CD was just released...
this advance CD-R have been spinnin´ in the carstereo almost every trip I’ve taken over the last couple of weeks...
”hell.of.a.life”
starts out with some excellent stoner riffs... and then the bass `n´ drums kicks in... add Nila’s killer vocals to this mix
and you got a winner. ”forever gone” is the most stonerrock sounding out of the 9 tunes on this album... the style might be
more than familiar to most of us, but Bottom manages to squeeze something fresh out of it anyways...
”X on Yr hed”
is the first one out of the heavier tunes... think of one of the heavier tunes from Tad’s ”Inhaler” album then multiply by
10, especially when it comes to the heaviness of the guitarsound... fuzz with lotsa bottom, hehe... This tune kinda floats
into the next equally heavy tune, ”Love Song 2 no.1”... High caliber heavy ass rock!!!
When the sound of the first
riffs from ”got meth.” fills my living room, I’m kinda taken by surprise... Sludge/Doom as heavy as anything outta Electric
Wizard’s or Warhorse’s latest album... Man, what a great tune... After this follows the most Helmet sounding outta the songs
on this album, ”deathSpin”... but it´s not like the sound is all Helmet... Bottom has their own take on that NYC groove, and
there´s even some death growls on this tune...
With ”meatbuzz” there´s once again something that reminds me `bout Tad...
but there´s also a few bits and pieces that (in the slightest) reminds me of Nu-Metal... but mind you, in a good way... no
Limp Bizkit shit... whatever you wanna call the music, it definitely rocks like there were no tomorrow... Both ”tower: xvi”
and ”angermeistar” continues down this path...
I would go as far as to say that this album might sell a few more copies
than most other stonerrock releases... It might not sell as many copies as Queens of the Stone Age, but just as ”Rated R”
also catered to an audience outside the ”stonerrock family”, I think ”Feels So Good When You’re Dead” might do that as well...
Sina, Nila and Clementine would definitely be worthy of some success, can’t think of any other band that works harder, with
constant touring and all... Hope to see you live on the European stages (finally!) this fall... Good luck!!!
